I found this book on the project gutenberg site, and thought I would give it a try. And, without a doubt, I'm very glad that I did. Undressing shadows is the untold tale, the other side of the World War Two story that we all know so well. After you have read about the heroic assistance provided by the American army, after your heart has swollen with pride during another resounding chorus of 'Rule Britannia,' take a quick glimpse into the heartache, the suffering, that was the life of the German civilians during this period. Of the women, children, and the elderly who were raped, beaten, and forced to starve on their own soil. It's a heartbreaking read, and yet, impossible to put down.
